B-29 USAF KOREAN FLIGHT CAPS

AUGUST 2011 – A rarely seen customised unit flight cap is the type that was worn in operations by USAF bomber crews in late 1940-1950s in B-29 and maybe B-50s. Im still to find out if these were worn in B-36s.

In Korean War operations SAC B-29 crews had some colourful flightgear. The crews flight caps were marked with all kinds of things such as nickname, state they were from, mission and rank.

Below we see on link examples of these rare caps – this one from 345th BS. Most are either privately owned or destroyed after 60years i would be lead to believe.

For the serious collector they can be found very rarely on ebay.
