LUFTWAFFE JET TRAINING 1959

MARCH 2011 – German /Luftwaffe pilots preparing for a flight training sortie in 1959 on a Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star jet.

The Luftwaffe used mostly the same USAF flight gear as they were reformed in the 1950s based on USAF supplied / issued aircraft and gear.

The pilots wear P-4 flight helmets with MS22001 oxygen masks. They have Luftwaffe made flight jackets and garrison caps. They used in theT-33 Shooting Star seat and backpack style parachute. These pilots would go onto fly Sabre jets Mk5/6 in Germans skies and F-104G Starfighters later on in the 1960s.
