US NAVY FLIGHTGEAR IN 1950s

MARCH 2011 – 1950s US Navy flightgear – with some surprises.

Rarely was customised artwork seen so large scale but VF-32 in 1958 did it and most of its pilots painted tigers colours on their APH-5, MA-2 HA and H-3/4 flight helmets. These photos show a transitional period from H-3/4 helmet to APH-5 helmet use.831200a6d4fc9f81_large
