RAF BACKPACK PARACHUTE FROM 1950’s

RAF BACKPACK PARACHUTE FROM 1950’s

I recently acquired a mint 1950s RAF backpack type parachute.
This style could of been used by RAAF in 1950s as i understand in Mustang operations and in other aircraft as it was a RAF issued item. The RAAF used a variety of RAF and USAF flight gear for their aircraft.

This is a GQ Type B Mk 6 parachute, similar to design and style to the B-10 parachute used by the USAAF.

It is constructed of a light brown canvas backpack complete with white fabric canopy and lines, full harness and fastening and release buckle, rip cord
The large label reads ‘G.Q Pack Type B MK 6 319525, ref No 15A/613 (Pack alone)’, also stamped with inspection date 17 May 1954
The harness has a label attached ‘G.Q Harness Type B Mk 5 319525, Ref No 15A/614’ plus an inspection date 24 June 1954.
