Toowoomba airshow event

DAVID HACK MAY 2009 FLY IN – VIETNAM ERA THEME

I recently attended the Vietnam era fly in atToowoomba in southern Queensland on May 3rd.
I travelled up to Qld to pose with 1960s aircraft and with my 1960s USAF flight gear.

A USAF Vietnam era warbird aircraft – O-1G Birdog – was in attendance and i took the chance to get some exclusive flying gear photos with the plane.
I found out the history behind this this very O-1 – it was used as a mini gunship by a FAC pilot – having a fixed M-60 machine gun in the back of the cockpit mounted firing sideways.
This O-1 is owned by the well known Randal McFarlane and i thank him for allowing me the access and time to do the photo shoot.
Thanks to warbird owner Randal McFarlane, John Freedman photographer, ex RAAF FAC Gary Cooper and airshow organiser Scott Wilkinson also making this small trip enjoyable and worthwhile.
